| University of Canterbury Intern Lukhanyo Voyiya Hey! My name is Lukhanyo, I also go by Lu! I am currently interning with the Navigators at the University of Canterbury. I came to New Zealand as an international student at UC and during my first year of uni I gave my life to Christ. Being discipled through the Navigators played a guiding role in how I view life as a follower of Christ now. Discipleship has taught me the importance of having someone to listen and guide you as you progress further into your faith. I am looking forward to labouring in God’s harvest field on the university campus! I pray that I can walk alongside and encourage people who were like me in my first year of uni. | ![]() |
| University of Otago Interns Flynn and Catherine Wilson Kia Ora! My wife, Catherine, and I, Flynn, met through the Christchurch Navigators ministry, where we were both heavily involved as students. I grew up in a non-Christian household, but I was introduced to the gospel for the first time by my mentor, Stu. My wife had grown up in the faith, but coming into university, her faith was much more intellectual than relational. The discipleship and fellowship we experienced through The Navigators were instrumental in this transformation. The Navigators played a major role in both of our journeys of faith, which we’re eternally grateful for. We’ve been given the opportunity to step out in faith and help pioneer a ministry in Dunedin at the University of Otago, where we hope to be a light in a dark place, to share the good news with non-believers and to help people become rooted and established in their faith. We hope to be bold with the gospel and to proclaim it through both our words and actions. | ![]() |

| University of Canterbury Intern Graham Fretz Graham recently graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education degree. He first met the Navigators in his second month at the U of A after he was invited to attend an event. Later God revealed that Graham wasn’t trusting Him completely, so he began surrendering the idols he had built up. After attending the 2023 U of C Navigators Winter Retreat, Graham fully surrendered his life to Jesus and began actively pursuing a relationship with Him. As Graham’s relationship with God grew and as he was invested in by U of A Navigators staff and student leaders, he felt equipped and began investing in others. Over time, he developed a desire to see university students transformed by Jesus like he was, and after attending the 2024 Global Student Program, Graham felt God’s leading towards campus ministry. In the fall, God called Graham to Christchurch, New Zealand, to the two-year EDGE internship at the University of Canterbury. As Graham is faithfully present among these students, he is excited to see how God transforms him and those he interacts with. | ![]() |
| University of Canterbury Intern Nigel Kroeker Hi! I’m Nigel Kroeker—an overcomer through Jesus, who enjoys math, music, and munchies. God has blessed me immensely with parents, who taught me the ways of Jesus, and some stellar-supportive siblings. I joined the Navigators at the University of Alberta while taking my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. There I found an authentic group who were aspiring to draw others into the amazing Messiah-life. This life offered by Jesus, my messiah, is deeply good, and I’m super excited to share it with others as I intern at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, Aotearoa! | ![]() |
