North Shore Network

A network of post-career people with a long association with The Navigators and one another lives on Auckland’s North Shore. The dozen people have friendships spanning as many as 50 years—friends and fellow travellers. They have journeyed through stages of life; held together by the common things they have in the Good News of Jesus and His Kingdom and their affinity and history with The Navigators.

The core “FFT” group meets fortnightly for dinner and time spent reading the Bible. Their emphasis is to offer support in life, encouragement to keep pressing on in knowing Jesus, and having a Kingdom influence in our peoplescape. A WhatsApp group circulates information on prayer, organisation, changing circumstances, and celebrations.

Family is not just a priority but a cornerstone for all in the core group. Beyond this group, their influence extends to their twenty adult children and partners, and over forty grandchildren. The group’s participation in the wider community, both faith-based and secular, is a testament to their commitment. Thirty others from this group meet in small groups to read the Bible. A shared aspiration is to see family and friends who don’t yet know God come to faith in Jesus and be used by him in the lives of others. Such opportunities require significant commitment, time, and capacity, but they are a testament to the group’s dedication.

Our Navigator Vision encapsulates the spirit and aspirations of this network:

“Ordinary people, in many walks of life, are joyfully leading integrated lives. They live as fruitful insiders among the lost. There is perseverance in the face of hardship and suffering. The gospel spreads naturally and powerfully, as believers share Christ, life upon life, family to family.”
